Ferrari: The Italian Stallion

There is an almost magic attraction elicited by the names of certain makes of car. That attraction reaches deep inside the psyche of the automotive enthusiast. Everyone seems to have a favorite make of automobile. And it is undeniable that some marques command an intense loyalty among a very broad base of fans. One of the most intense and vocal fan bases, as well as one of the broadest, is the one found hovering, almost reverently, over the name, Ferrari.

There are innumerable reasons why Ferrari inspires such a broad and almost rabid fan base. The company's history, the man who started it all, and the longevity of this marque's influence on the motoring as well as the racing world, all play a part in the mystique that surrounds this company's name.

The history of Ferrari is storied and proud. Some American companies have definitely appeared envious of this heritage. So envious were some, they tried to buy the Italian company for their own. While Ferrari ultimately balked rather demonstratively at the idea of an outright purchase by an American company, Ferrari has a history of financial and other relationships with automakers and companies related to the automotive world. The most influential of these include Fiat, which currently owns Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Shell Petroleum, Pirelli, and others. Ferrari continues in many of these very successful relationships today.

The man who started it all, Enzo Ferrari, was remarkable. He stands as an icon in the automotive world. And the racing record of his cars is so long and studded with accomplishments, that it is little wonder some people equate the name with racing, itself.

During some periods, Ferrari seems to own the Formula One World Championship series. The present time is an excellent example of this. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have the best drivers. But why do the best drivers always seem to want to find a ride in Ferrari cars? Among other reasons, it's because they have a well-developed habit of winning.

Born before the turn of the last century, in 1898, Enzo Ferrari lived in an entirely different world than exists today. Over a century later, we take for granted things like the almost natural feeling of cruising in an automobile at 75 to 100mph. When Enzo was 20 years old, in 1918, a prosperous and growing automaker had just begun to brag that it had made the very first 100mph Packard automobile

Claim:   One of Sylvester Stallone's first screen efforts was a starring role in a porn film.

Status:   True.

Origins:   Sylvester  Stallone did indeed get his first movie acting role in a porn movie, called Party at Kitty and Stud's. This movie came out in 1970, when Sly was but 24 years old, living in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, and working a variety of menial jobs (including cinema usher) while trying to break into the movies. At that time  New York City was the hub of U.S. porn film making. Stallone is the leading man in this X film, and he later acknowledged in a Playboy interview that he was paid $200 for his role. Unlike his efforts in later films, Stallone seems to have had no part in directing or producing Party at Kitty and Stud's.

Stallone made the most of his break, quickly entering mainstream movies with a role in Woody Allen's Bananas the next year. He appeared in six more films before 1976's Rocky, the role that shot him right to the top. The canny Sicilian wrote the script for Rocky and sold it for a very low price, on the condition that he star in the movie and receive a share of the profits. Rocky went on to win three Oscars, including best picture. It made Stallone's movie career.

Whoever owned the rights to Party at Kitty and Stud's capitalized on Stallone's new-found fame by re-releasing it under the title The Italian Stallion (presumably a reference to the protagonist's nickname in Rocky). The credits show that the rights to this X film are owned by "Stallion Enterprises," so they took this theme all the way.

Party at Kitty and Stud's/The Italian Stallion started life as a genuine pornographic X film, though it has been brutally edited down -- probably at the time it was retitled and re-released. There is a new prologue where it is implied that they took out the really fun dirty bits for the re-release. It now completely lacks any semblance of a plot and all hard-core exhibitions, so it is somewhat hard to follow. For example, a large mastiff dog appears at one point, but disappears equally as rapidly, leaving the viewer confused about what was to happen next. Party at Kitty and Stud's seems hilariously dated in some ways, too, as it is rife with 60's slang.

At one point Kitty confides to one of her friends that Stud is "so far out" and "animalistic". At another point Sly enjoins Kitty to "be careful! You bit me last time." Kitty replies, "I'll be velvet-mouthed on your shank of love!" before dissolving into an unscripted fit of giggles only partially concealed by burying her head on Stallone's shank of love. Stallone's best scenes are the ones where he is naked (which is nearly all of them). The highpoint of the film is probably Stallone's helping three women, one after the other, although all the overt details are edited out, leaving just the moaning and groaning.

Sly-connoisseurs will note that he has a four-inch scar on his left thigh under his butt. Far from being a stallion, Sly is actually a man of quite ordinary, even modest, endowment. His muscular frame, lacking its customary coat of oil, is unimpressive. Some people claim to see undertones of Rocky in Party at Kitty and Stud's, but I couldn't detect any myself, unless they mean the scene where Sly lightly beats Kitty with his pants belt. Sly lacks his trademark sneer and talks normally in Party at Kitty and Stud's.

It is not unknown for a porn movie performer to cross over into mainstream cinema. Traci Lords has now renounced her porn film past, and can be seen in minor roles on television, such as a dental assistant on "Married With Children."

What is an Italian Stallion for me?? Let me think.. maybe it could be a very strange tail... Have you ever tried before?? It's too easy..

Ingredients:

1/2 oz Frangelico

1/2 oz Amaretto

1 oz Tuaca

Place the ingredients in the order mentioned in the receipe, in a 2 oz. shot glass and just shoot it!

I don't believe that this is my own creation. Try it, I think you will like it.

Bye

In Rome I'd eventually meet Alfredo Capone who I call my Italian stallion because he'd provide for all my physical requirements......

.......Alfredo is the great nephew of an important family and his family has ties to the underworld. From Alfredo I learn the meaning of Italina culture and passion. How joyous I am then. We spend three happy years together.

Sylvester Stallone was nicknamed the Italian Stallion after his role in a risqué 1970 movie. His big hits were the "Rocky" and "Rambo" films.

Stallone reprised his role as Rocky last year in "Rocky Balboa." Stallone will be in another sequel, "Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra," which is in preproduction.

Actually, I've been told I'm an Italian Stallion by multiple people.

I have to admit, I was honoured to hear it. :)
